Our Services and how to access them

We improve the lives of Carers by offering them time to be themselves so they are able to take break from their caring responsibilities. The service is tailored to meet the individual needs of each Carer and the person they are caring for. This allows the Carer to go out, or even stay at home to have a quiet family meal, pursue a hobby, or take a sleep whilst the person they normally care for is taken out or cared for in their home by our staff. All things that we take for granted.

Crossroads Carer Support Workers are trained and police checked to take over the Carer's role to give them a short break when it is most needed. Support is provided to people of any age including the elderly frail. Carers are often able to fund all or part of their care via their dependent's support allowances. Some care is free at point of delivery depending on the grants we have available, or charged on a non-profit hourly basis.

Referrals

Referrals can be made by anyone, including the Carer, friends, neighbours, GPs, District Nurses, voluntary organisations, or the local authority. Referrals are made to our Manager or Deputy Manager by telephone, fax, or email. Each family referred is subsequently visited so their needs are assessed, to confirm whether the service is suitable. Each family is matched with a suitable Carer Support Worker who, as far as possible, becomes the regular worker for that family. To meet our own quality management requirements and that of the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) we provide an information guide to the Carer. This sets out our service procedures including those for feedback of client comments.
